Unsettled for much of Europe this week

Tuesday
Cloudy with some heavy rain over Portugal spreading to west Spain by the evening. A cold but mostly dry start to the day over France but some rain may reach far west in the evening. Some snow showers over Holland, otherwise Belgium and Luxembourg will be dry but cold. Northern Germany may see some light snow, otherwise the rest of the country will be dry with some brightened in south. Cold over Scandinavia with further outbreaks of light snow, but more heavy snow overnight into Wednesday over southern Norway and then Denmark and southern Sweden. Finland and the Baltic States as well as Belarus and Ukraine cold with some light snow.
A drier and somewhat brighter day over centra Europe with any remaining snow in the morning over Czechia and Slovakia soon clearing. Best of the sunshine over Switzerland and Austria.
Outbreaks of rain over Greece, but becoming drier from the west through the day. A cloudy day over Turkey and Cyprus with outbreaks of rain, this possible heavy at times, with a risk of thunderstorms over Cyprus. Further west, a mix of sunny spells and a few showers over Italy, and cold in the north. The Balearics as well as Sardinia and Corsica will see a mostly dry and bright day.

Wednesday
Heavy rain and strong winds through Spain and Portugal, thundery showers mixed in. Unsettled into the western Mediterranean too. Spells of heavy rain through Italy and the Balkans. Risk of gales for coasts in southwestern Europe. Mostly dry for Greece, Turkey and the Black Sea region.
Low pressure over France brings extensive heavy rain and snowfall in the north. Heavy snow for the Low Countries into Germany during the day. Snow also affects the Alps. A drier day for Poland, but a risk of snow arriving again from the west.
Low pressure over southern Scandinavia brings strong winds and snowfalls to southern Sweden, the Baltic states and into southern Finland late. Drier further north and west into Norway. Very cold across the region.
